County Tippeary CEO Joe McGrath has called on all providers of Tourism related services to become members of the Tipperary Tourism Company. It said more members would strengthen the voice for tourism in the county. Mr McGrath made the call at an On-line event earlier today when the New Tipperary Tourisms Product Development Plan – entitled transforming Tipperary was launched.

The plan which features 17 major product concepts for across the county will build on a foundation of work already completed according to Mr Magrath. He cited the Tourism Strategy, the Munster vales, Lough Derg and Shannon Masterplan. He said almost half of the projects in the Product Plan were underway and that the “tourism product” was the missing piece of the Tipperary Tourism jigsaw.

He said the Council and Tourism company shared an ambition for Tipperary to no longer play a supporting role in the Irish tourism industry but rather it intended to become the Destination of Choice for those seeking a safe place to holiday. He also thanked Failte Ireland for their work in developing Ireland’s Ancient East  and the Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands products which he said were two propositions that fitted in well for Tipperary.

He acknowledged the huge difficulties the sector had encountered due to the pandemic but said that brighter days were ahead.
