The public is again being asked to abide by the social distancing and travel restrictions that are in place, and not to travel this Bank Holiday Weekend.

gardaí will be out in force over the coming days

Speaking to Tipp Mid West Radio this morning, Superintendant Eddie Golden reiterated that gardaí will be out in force over the coming days and garda checkpoints will be widespread.

He said that gardaí want to work with the public to stem the spread of Covid-19.

However, if some still continue to flout the restrictions, he notes that people can now be prosecuted for the offence.

He has also reminded people who are not abiding by the restrictions, that if they continue in their actions, the more they risk everyone’s health and the longer the lock down is likely to remain in place.
