Nearly €82,000 is being allocated to Co Tipperary to help run the initiative aimed at co-ordinating the county’s response to the Covid-19 crisis.

The money will support the Community Call initiative in Co Tipperary which helps in co-ordinating the work being carried out by the county’s community and voluntary groups in supporting the vulnerable, many of which are self-isolating.

The funding is part of an overall Covid-19 Emergency Fund that amounts to €2.5 million nationally.

According to Deputy Michael Lowry, Local Authorities will now administer the funding to groups involved in the Community Call effort.

Priority will be provided to organisations which incur costs through the direct delivery of frontline services to people, such as Meals on Wheels and other similar activities.
