A local business owner has called on the government to ensure that business who have had to close to prevent the spread of Covid-19, are not left with mounting bills once the crisis abates.

Speaking to Tipp Mid West this morning, Annemarie Ryan who owns the French Quareter Cafe in Tipp town said that more clarity needs to be provided on the deferral of commercial rates and how the issue of commercial rents can be dealt with while businesses are not operating.

She said that while the deferral of commercial rates for affected businesses is welcome, small and medium bunsinesses need to be assured that they will not have to face a hefty bill should they resume operations in the future.

She has also highlighted the need for businesses to have some money put aside to allow them restart their business when the crisis abates.
