Three men arrested following Borrisokane burglary

Gardaí have arrested and charged three men in relation to an attempted burglary at a pub on Main Street, Borrisokane, Co. Tipperary that occurred yesterday morning.

Shortly before 4.30 am, gardaí from Borrisokane Garda Station received a report of a possible burglary on Main Street. They obtained details of a car believed to have been involved in the incident which was then circulated to all gardaí in the area.

Then, a couple of hours later – around 7.30 am – gardaí were called to a possible public order incident in Cloughjordan. With the assistance of an off duty member from Borrisokane Garda Station and a member of the public, gardai managed to restrain the man and he was arrested.

Members of the public in the town then informed the gardaí of a suspicious car that was parked in a wooded area close by.

Gardaí arrived at the location and searched the wooded area where they found two men and the car believed to have been involved in the attempted burglary in Borrisokane.

All three men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, at Nenagh and Roscrea Garda Stations and have since been charged.

They were due to appear before Thurles District Court today.
