The Education Minister Joe McHugh has announced a €30 million funding package for the Summer Works Scheme in the country’s schools.

The money will be made available to allow the schools chosen to carry out specialist improvements, climate action measures and the installation of electric vehicle charging points in some.

28 schools in Co Tipperary have been included in the funding rollout.

They include St Michael’s Girls School in Tipperary town, St John the Baptist Boys’ and Girls’ national schools in Cashel, St Ailbe’s in Tipperary town and Colaiste Dun Iascaig, Cahir.

In total, 405 primary and post-primary schools will benefit from the scheme – a tenth of all of the schools in the country.
