Workers at the ABP meat processing plant in Cahir became the latest to be affected by the dispute over beef prices, with the factory announcing that 355 workers have been temporarily laid off.

The company has also warned of another 182 jobs likely to go by the end of the week.

Demonstrations have been taking place outside the Cahir factory for weeks now and ABP blames the ongoing blockades for its decision to cease production at the facility.

The company has said that it will stay in contact with staff members and provide them with regular updates.
