Co Tipp man dies in fall at Comeragh Mountains

A County Tipperary man has died in a fall in the Comeragh Mountains in Co Waterford.

The incident happened yesterday afternoon, when the man, who was in his 40s was walking at Mahon Falls.

The National Ambulance Service tasked the South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association (SEMRA) with responding to the emergency. SEMRA responders were at the scene within 20 minutes.

The casualty was initially treated, and CPR was administered by members of the hill party.

He was airlifted to University Hospital Waterford for treatment, but he was later pronounced dead.

A post mortem is due to be carried out on later today.

The South Eastern Mountain Rescue team escorted the remaining family members off the hill and transferred them to Waterford Regional Hospital.

He is understood to have been living in Clonmel.
