Management issue appeal due to STGH overcrowding

Overcrowding at South Tipperary General Hospital’s Emergency Department this morning has prompted management to appeal to the public to only present themselves at the ED in cases of genuine emergency.

Members of the public are being asked to seek GP or Cardoc out-of-hours services in the first instance where possible, so that services at the Emergency Department can be directed towards those who need them the most.

However, if members of the public are seriously injured or ill, or are worried that their life is at risk, they can be assured that staff at the Emergency Department will treat them as a priority.

Staff and management are working to prioritise the discharge of patients as soon as possible, where appropriate.
