Tipperary-Cahir-Cashel Municipal Council is being called upon to suspend the requirement that the public gives ten days’ notice to attend municipal meetings.

The call is being made by March4Tipp councillor, Annemarie Ryan, who says that it is within the control of local councillors to change the prior notification period.

‘such archaic rules hinder community involvement’

Speaking on the matter, she said that ‘such archaic rules hinder community involvement’ at a time when the local authority needs to be open and transparent.

At the next Municipal meeting on the 29th July, Cllr Ryan will be calling on council officials and local councillors to suspend the standing order that requires the ten-day notification period.
