Fianna Fail’s Roger Kennedy, who retained his seat on in the Cashel/Tipperary LEA has told Tipp Mid West that low voter turnout and the re-election of the existing councillors, shows that the public wants to pass judgement on the government more than local politicians.

Mr Kennedy told Tipp Mid West Radio that while it was apparent that there was a level of ‘voter apathy’ regarding the local elections, the message that was also given was that the council is ‘doing a good job’.

The real desire, he added is for a general election:
‘The issues that they (the public) want changed are at national level’, he said.
