Gardai are urging the public not to leave valuables in cars following a recent spate of thefts.

On Friday, August 10th, between 12 midday and 2pm two cars were broken into at the car park at the Christ the King statue in the Glen of Aherlow. The rear passenger windows were broken on each car. A handbag and a small amount of cash were stolen from one car while a gear bag was stolen from the other.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, August 8th, two cars were broken into Bishopswood and Marlbog near Dundrum. During the incident at Marlbog, a window of the car was broken and a small amount of cash was taken. The window of a car parked at Bishopswood was also smashed and a sum of money was stolen. Both thefts took place between 4.30 and 5.30pm, and gardai suspect that they may have been carried out by the same people.

This spate of thefts has prompted gardai to once again advise the public not to leave valuables in vehicles and not to leave items where they can be seen.
