The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross, today announced details of a two-year, €23 million Community Involvement Grant Programme for regional and local roads; over a million-and-a-half of which will be allocated to Co Tipperary.

In total, €1,784,000 will go towards a number of projects in Co Tipperary. According to Minister Ross today, the purpose of the Community Involvement Scheme is to facilitate local participation in the repair of roads so as to allow improvements to be made sooner than might otherwise be the case in general roads maintenance projects.

The scheme will involve an average community contribution of around 19%.
In announcing the programme today, Minster Ross said that a considerable level of interest was expressed from local authorities.
