Tipperary TD Michael Lowry has said that Leo Varadkar needs to ‘hit the ground running’ once he’s elected Taoiseach, and start work on delivering for Tipperary.

The independent TD was speaking after he revealed that he is to support Mr Varadkar when a vote for Taoiseach takes place in the Dail tomorrow.  Deputy Lowry’s support ensures Mr Varadkar has the sufficient number of votes to be endorsed as Taoiseach.

Mr Lowry said that he has reached an understanding with the FG leader in terms on delivering on a capital plan that would benefit Co Tipperary.  He mentioned putting Our Lady’s Hospital in Cashel to use as being one of the issues they discussed.

Mr Lowry also admitted that the current government does not have a very long lifespan ahead of it and therefore Mr Varadkar will need to start delivering on his promises quickly.
