Seamus Healy has hit out at Fianna Fáil following reports that Michael Martin has been speaking to Leo Varadkar about the possibility of reducing the amount of speaking time being made available to smaller parties and groupings, most of which are left-leaning.
Mr Martin is believed to be unhappy that smaller parties have the same amount of speaking time as larger ones, adding that his back benchers are frustrated by the current system. But Tipperary’s Seamus Healy believes it is an attempt at a power grab by the two larger parties.
He has also maintained that the current system does not give the smaller parties and groupings the same time as FF and FG.
