The owners of the Sky Innovation Park in Tipperary town are due to apply for planning permission to Tipperary County Council on Friday.

The application, by Corajio, is to allow the company to change the use of the site from retail to innovation and industry.

The decision was made upon a recommendation by the IDA, who said that it would offer the site the best chance of creating employment in Tipperary town.

Labour TD Alan Kelly who facilitated the talks between the company, the IDA, Enterprise Ireland and Tipperary County Council has described the latest move as ‘the next step in this exciting opportunity for Tipperary town and its environs’.

After the planning stage, Corajio will commence work on developing the site and making it fit for visits by potential clients sourced by the IDA and Enterprise Ireland.

At that point, claims Deputy Kelly, ‘the agencies will have a site that they can market’.
