Kenny Again Denies Any Deal With Lowry

473

The Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, has again denied that a deal or an understanding exists between him and TD Michael Lowry (Ind.) in return for the Tipperary TD’s support for the government.

Mr. Kenny was forced to address the issue once more after the Fianna Fail leader Micheál Martin pointed out in the Dáil that Mr. Lowry claimed in local media that he had a deal with the government which would deliver benefits for Tipperary.

In particular, he pointed to the modular unit suggested for South Tipperary General Hospital.

Responding, Mr. Kenny said that while he appreciated Mr. Lowry’s support for the government, he denied that there are any understandings between the government and the former Fine Gael TD in return for that support.

He also said that if the Health Minister met with Mr. Lowry over the capacity problems being experienced at South Tipp General, he did so out of ‘normal courtesy’.
