Commitment given that roads will be in suitable condition for An Post Rás

A commitment has been given that Tipperary town’s Main St will be in a suitable condition for the arrival of the An Post Ras on May 18th.

Responding to a question on the matter at today’s meeting of the Tipperary Cashel Municipal District, Engineer Aidan Finn said that the road needs major work but the National Roads Authority, which has responsibility for it, is unlikely to do this in 2015.

He went on to give a commitment that whatever patching needs to be done ahead of the arrival of the cyclists in May, will take place.

Responding this afternoon, Cllr Denis Leahy said that while it is unfortunate that the NRA is going to wait so long before undertaking the work, he takes comfort in the guarantee by Mr. Finn that the road will be in a suitable condition for the Ras.
