Potential traffic hazard on relocation of a bottle bank in Tipperary town

Co Tipperary TD Mattie McGrath planned to meet with Tipperary town’s superintendent today to draw his attention to the creation of a potential traffic hazard with the relocation of a bottle bank at the town’s Bank Place.

Locals are concerned about the environmental impact that the bottle bank will have.

The new facility will replace an old one that was situated towards the back of a car park in the area.  Plans for the new bank situate it closer to the footpath.

The matter and concerns of residents were raised at yesterday’s meeting of the Tipperary/Cashel Municipal District by Cllr Mary Hannah Hourigan.

Speaking to Tipperary Mid West Radio this morning Deputy McGrath said that there are concerns about the proximity of the bottle bank to a roundabout on what is a main artery into the town, and the danger that will be posed if a truck emptying the bottle bank has to park there for any period of time.
