The Pakistani army are claiming that they have arrested the gunmen responsible for the shooting of rights campaigner Malala Yousafzai.

Malala was shot in the head by Taliban gunmen in 2012 for her campaign to allow all children free access to education.

They boarded her school bus opened fire and shot her in the head while also wounding two of her school friends. She was fifteen at the time.

She has since been celebrated internationally for her continuing efforts in that area.

Last year she was invited to Tipperary town where she was presented with the Tipperary International Peace Award.

Pakistani authorities have said that 10 members of a fraction which is thought to form part of the Pakistani Taliban were arrested as part of an ongoing operation.

They are expected to face an anti-terrorism court in due date.
