County Tipperary TD Alan Kelly has confirmed that he intends to enter the Labour party’s leadership contest.
Speaking to Tipperary Mid West Radio this morning Mr Kelly said he will run for the position of leader or deputy leader.
He went on to say that he will make a final decision on which specific position he will go for after discussing the matter with his family and with the Labour parlimentary party.
In terms of the future of the party, he said that it must rethink its current direction and give particular focus to the situation in which the so-called “coping classes” find themselves.
