A welcome has been given by TD Mattie McGrath to what he refers to as a “cross party consensus” in relation to making the completion of the N24 Cahir to Pallasgreen bypass scheme a county-wide priority.
Deputy McGrath was commenting on a meeting that took place yesterday between a number of Tipperary Oireachtas members and councillors and the Transport Minister Leo Varadkar.
However he said that there was “serious disagreement on some matters, particularly in relation to road repairs and maintenance.
He also reiterated his view that cuts contained in the 2014 regional and local road grants allocations for South Tipperary are in his words, “incomprehensively savage” and “akin to a financial strait jacket” being imposed on the council’s ability to carry out vital road repair work
