Meeting held in response to complaints at A&E South Tipperary General Hospital

Independent TD Mattie McGrath has described last night’s meeting regarding the high number of people on trolleys in South Tipperary General Hospital as both “stark” and “poignant”.

Deputy McGrath organised the meeting in response to complaints he has received regarding the conditions some people have had to endure at the hospital’s A&E department.

While he said that the accounts of some former patients were truly harrowing, he noted that what was particularly shocking to hear was the amount of pressure being put on staff due to what he says is a bureaucratic process.

He also noted the absence of any Fine Gael TDs or councillors at the meeting which took place in Cahir Community Hall last night.
