Independent TD Mattie McGrath has said today that poor drainage on the M8 South of Cahir is posing a threat to motorists lives
Deputy McGrath was speaking of an area on the motorway which has witnessed a number of accidents and is prone to water pooling at times of heavy rain.
The South Tipperary TD claims that is caused by poor drainage.
He said that he is to call on the Minister for Transport to put pressure on Roadbridge the company that constructed the motor-way to rectify the problem, even if their responsibility for it ended 12 months after construction.
He has also called on the Senior Roads Engineer in South Tipperary to deal with the problem or else, he says, he will contact the Road Safety Authority to immediately investigate the issue before a loss of life occurs.
He noted that the Local Authority has been aware of the problem for quite some time due to the presence of a sign indicating ongoing problems with water build-up in the area.
