The three cinema screens at the Excel Centre in Tipperary town are expected to be open to the public from Friday, July 12th after an agreement was reached to upgrade them to digital formats.
Last month it was announced that the cinemas were to close due to insufficient funds to keep them running or to upgrade them.
However negotiations between the Excel’s board of management and Digital Cinema Ltd have resulted in a deal being agreed in relation to financing the digital switch over.
Speaking to Tipperary Mid West Radio this morning, Paul Kingston, a member of the board of management said that he hopes it will result in less job losses.
