Carers have today been protesting outside the Dail where they have been expressing their unhappiness at the cut to the respite grant.
The grant, which is paid once a year, has been cut by €325 or 20%
The purpose of the grant is to enable carers to take time off from work, and is commonly used to purchase new equipment or catch up with bills. The protest has also been taking place to mark Carer's Week, which began yesterday.
