HSE unable to audit ambulance service

It has emerged that the HSE was unable to do audit of South Tipperary's ambulance service because of lack of documentation.

The HSE was carrying out an audit of rostering and timesheet claim verification but particular details could not be found because there were not enough documents in existance.

The HSE said this was a significant matter because some of the staff were getting top-up in to the form of a shift allowance.

Commenting further, the HSE noted in the report that even though tighter controls were put into effect in the second half of 2011 there were still deficiences in terms of documentation relating to the service.
