The Air Corps Emergency Aeromedical Service (EAS) resumes its services today following last month’s crash landing in North Tipperary.

The incident happened on June 19th near Borrisoleigh after the Eurocopter EC135 helicopter struck overhead cables. Air ambulance services are regarded as “high risk” and this type of incident is common with other services worldwide.

There was no patient on board and none of the crew suffered injuries.

Defence Minister Alan Shatter says the Athlone based service will now operate out of Casement Aerodrome, Balldonnell in Co. Dublin.
