A boil water notice is in effect in Thurles. North Tipperary County Council has made the decision following consultation with the Health Service Executive after contaminants were found in the supply.

The areas affected are Leugh Road, Race Course Road to the Hospital of the Assumption, Killinan to Ballycahill, Ballycahill to Knockalough.  Water must be boiled for:

  • Drinking
  • Drinks made with water
  • Food preparation
  • Brushing of teeth
  • Making ice
  • Preparing baby food

Water from the hot tap is not safe to drink either and the Council also advises that domestic water filters may not render water safe to drink.

Consumers who are aware of this notice are also being asked to inform those who may not be aware of the danger. The Council is also asking people to advise any elderly or disabled persons who may require assistance.  This procedure will continue until further notice.
