It has been confirmed today that Clonmel,s Garda station is to be relocated to the now empty Army Barracks.
it is the general opinion that the current garda station is unsuitable for purpose due to the cramped conditions and state of repair. As a result a campaign has been undertaken to get the station relocated to the army barracks that was shut down last year
Speaking to Tipperary Mid West Radio Fine Gael TD Deputy Tom Hayes said that minister Shatter gave him this commitment during a meeting he had with the Justice Minister.
According to Deputy Hayes funding will be contained within the 2014 Capital Programme and the new premises will be up and running within a few years of that.
