The Chairman of the Tipperary Cashel Municipal District has rejected allegations by TD Mattie McGrath that the development of the plaza in Tipperary has been costed at hundreds of thousands of euro.

Cllr Roger Kennedy maintains that Deputy McGrath is taking into account other ancillary works that took place at the time, but which were separate to the plaza project.

Those works had, he added, been scheduled by the council a couple of years earlier but were just carried out at the same time that works on the project were taking place.  He added that these works did not contribute to the costs of developing the Plaza project.

He also accused Deputy McGrath of acting like a county councillor rather than a national TD.
