Co Tipperary TD Mattie McGrath has said in his view, the recent decision to locate the new National Children’s Hospital at the St James’ site is unsuitable because it is not readily accessible for patients who live beyond the M50.
He has called for the Minister for Health to reconsider the decision by An Bord Pleanala to grant planning permission due to what he says is the fact that concerns about issues such as traffic congestion there were ignored.
He said this happeneding in the same week that it was confirmed the roll-out of rural broadband will be delayed, further shows the ‘chronic inability to actually understand the seriousness of the infrastructure issues facing rural Ireland’.
