Funding approved for housing projects for homeless people.

The housing minister Jan O'sullivan has approved €46 million for housing projects for homeless people and people with special needs.  €29 million of the funding will support the new Homelessness Implementation Plan.

Of the €46 million being announced today some €19 million has been ringfenced for the delivery of 187 units to be acquired or constructed in the local authority areas across the country to specifically accomodate persons and families who are homeless.

Locally, over €500,000 has been allocated for projects in north and south Tipperary 

€296,has been allocated to Thurles Lions Trust Ltd. This will go towards the construction of 3 units for the use of people with special needs and the homeless.

Simon Community South East has also been allocated €221,025 to acquire 6 units to house the homeless
