Mr Kenny reject calls to re-visit inquiry
Written by Nora Samworth

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said he has no intention of seeking to have the Moriarty Tribunal re-opened following the emergence of the recording of a phonecall allegedly involving independent TD Michael Lowry.

A taped conversation from 2004 between Deputy Lowry and a land agent, Kevin Phelan suggested that Mr Lowry did not declare a payment to the revenue comissioners.

Mr Lowry since responded claiming the payment was tax compliant.

In the Dail yeaterday, Fianna Fail leader Michael Martin has said the recording casts doubt on the truthfulness of evidence given before Moriarty Tribunal.

Mr Kenny said the tribunal reported two years ago and he rejected calls for the issue to be revisited by the inquiry.
