Tipperary/Cashel Municipal Councillors told funding not available for resurface Main Street Tippera

Tipperary/Cashel Municipal District councillors have agreed to call in representatives of the former NRA, Transport Infrastructure Ireland, after a recent delegation was told that funding will not be available next year to resurface Tipperary town’s Main St.
The matter came under discussion after the Municipal Chairperson Mary Hannah Hourigan updated her colleagues on the recent trip to Dublin.

Justice Minister ask Save Our Local Community Group to compile proposals to combat rural crime.

The Justice Minister has asked members of the Save Our Local Community Group to compile two papers on a number of proposals to combat rural crime.
The group had a meeting with the minister.  Representatives presented Frances Fitzgerald with five key proposals they believe if addressed, would help in tackling crime country-wide.
One of the proposals she requested a paper on deals with reform of the trespassing laws to weight them in favour of the victim.

Met Eireann has issued Status Red rainfall warning.

Met Éireann has issued a status red rainfall warning for areas of Connacht as well as counties Donegal, Clare, and Kerry as the fourth storm of the winter approaches.
 
Incessant falls of heavy rain are forecast overnight and for all of Saturday as Storm Desmond approaches the country.
 
Accumulations in excess of 70mm are expected, with greater totals on higher ground.
 
Strong winds with speeds of 55 to 75km/h and gusting to 100 to 120km/h are also forecast throughout the period.
 
Status Red warnings are relatively rare and are issued to alert people to take action to protect themselves and/or their properties.
The Road Safety Authority has advised drivers to check local and national forecasts and traffic updates before setting out.
 
They have warned drivers to be aware of possible fallen trees and to avoid driving through flooded areas.

Missing person appeal Sophie Burke Clonmel Co Tipperary

Gardaí at Clonmel are appealing to the public for assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 18-year old Sophie Burke. Sophie was last  seen when leaving her house at Elm Park Clonmel, yesterday.

She is described as 5ft in height, with black mid length hair (tied up in a ponytail) and brown eyes. When last seen she was wearing a ¾ length green coat.
