A new management system dealing with six hospitals in the Midwest has begn to take effect today.
The system, the purpose of which is to provide a more integrated and unified method of management will operate across the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick the Regional Hospital Nenagh and Ennis the Mid Western Maternity Hospital in Limerickk, St John's Hospital Limerick and the Orthapaedic Hospital in Croom.
Four directorate managers and four clinical doctor managers will be in charge of specialist services across all six of the hospitals.
The HSE claims it will prove to be a more efficient system of management.
