Firearm discharged in Killenaule

Gardai are investigating an incident in which a firearm was discharged in Killenaule.

According to Gardai the shot was fire at around 11.30 last night .

Nobody was injured during the incident and nobody was arrested in connection with it.

Gardai are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the occurance.

 

 
Fine Gael to run 5 party candidates in 7 seater district

Some Fine Gael councillors in South Tipperary are believed to be wondering why the party has decided to run 5party seats in a 7 seater municipal district.

It was recently decided by Fine Gael hierarchy that a fifth candidate, Colm Taylor run for a seat in the Tipperary Town/Cashel area in the upcoming elections.

Four had already been chosen at a previous convention. 

it will bring to five, the number of Fine Gaelcandidates chosen to run in the area. 

Speaking this morning Cllr John Crosse said the news came as a surprise but that he hopes further details will be made known to candidates at a meeting of Fine Gael tonight.

 

 
St. Patrick's College Regional Opening Evening

St. Patrick's College, Thurles will host an opening evening in collaboration with 3 visiting colleges.
 
The Evening will take place on the 28th January at 7.00pm
 
The evening is being run in collaboration with The University of Limerick, Mary Immaculate College and Limerick Institute of Technology.
 
Leaving certificate student, mature applicants, postgraduate applicants, guidance councellors and parents are all welcome to attend.
 
St. Patrick's College will be presenting information on our 4 year concurrent teacher education programmes which are accredited by the University of Limerick and recognised by the Teaching Council.
 
The subject areas offered are Accounting, Business, Irish and Religious Studies.

Gardai investigate robberies in Tipperary area

Gardai in Tipperary Town are investigating a number of robberies which occured in a number of areas yesterday. 

According to Tipperary town gardai, a number of robberies occured in the Galbally road Tipperary town and Limerick Junction areas yesterday evening.

While gardai are not releasing further details in relation to individual robberies they are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in these areas yesterday evening to contact them 062 80670 

 
Killenaule burglars granted bail.

Four of the seven men arrested in connection with an aggravated burglary in Killenaule last November have been granted bail.

The seven men were arrested following an aggravated burglary at the home of Emma and Mark Corcoran at their home in Burnchurch, Killenaule on November 21st.

Yesterday the court was told that the High Court had granted bail to 21year-old Patrick Joyce with an address in Beaumont Woods in Dublin 9, Donal O'Hara, aged 21 from Coolock and Michael McDonagh, aged 22 also from Coolock. 

Bail had previously been granted to John Joyce age 19 from Donaghmede in Dublin at a sitting of Cashel District Court. He has since availed of it.

Another man had also been granted bail but has not taken it up while two others were refused bail and remain in custody.
