Book of Evidence served on TD Michael Lowry

Co Tipperary TD Michael Lowry has appeared before Thurles District Court this afternoon where a Book of Evidence was served on him personally and he was sent forward for trial.

Mr Lowry is charged with three counts of knowingly filing incorrect tax returns on October 31st of 2003 and one further count on August 3rd 2007.

Thurles Garda Station named as location where recording of phone conversations happened

Thurles Garda Station and the office where fixed charge offences are processed Thurles FCPS -are two of a number of locations named by the Irish Times as garda stations where the recording of phone conversations happened.

The paper claims it has seen the internal inventory which was prepared within the Garda Siochana in February. 

That inventory includes a record of 185 tapes returned to Garda Headquarters from Tipperary.

Property Tax Deadline extended

The Revenue Commissioners have decided to extend the property tax deadline until close of business on Wednesday evening. 

The decision was made due to the high volume of call and queries that it recieved this morning ahead of the origional deadline of midnight tonight. 

The Local Property helpline 1890 2000 255 is open from 8am to 8pm today and tomorrow

Funding for Construction and Repair of Historic Buildings.

€282,000 in funding is to be granted for the repair and conservation of 51 buildings and structures across North and South Tipperary. 

The funding is being provided under the Built Heritage Jobs Leverage Scheme 2014. The scheme which is funded from the National Lottery License transaction, will oversee the construction and repair of 618 historic structures across the county.

The public funds provided will be matched by private funding and the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht estimate that the €5million BHJLS will unlock €16 million in private funding for these projects.

Drop in the number of public order offences.

The latest report from the Central Statistics office notes that homicide related offences increased nationally by 20% in the year between 2011 and 2012.
