Passenger flights resume from Waterford today.

The inaugural flight on a new route from Waterford Airport to London Luton took off this morning. 
 
VLM Airlines commenced flights on the Waterford – London Luton route at 7.30 this morning.
 
The service will operate 12 times a week in each direction.
 
The Belgian company will also operate a four times a week service from Waterford to Birmingham.
 
The Fokker 50 aircraft being used on the route has a capacity for up to 50 passengers

"Know your Patch" launched by Tipp Gardaí today

Tipperary Gardaí are rolling out an initiative today which will see members of the force assigned to specific areas around the county.
 
'Know your Patch' has been trailed in parts of the county over recent months and is now set to become county-wide policy. 
 
The aim of the programme is for residents to know their local Garda as a point of contact...its part of Tipperary Gardaí's wider Community Policing which has a great focus on involving the local community in combating crime. 
 
Chief Superintendent Catherine Kehoe says a closer relationship between the Gardaí and the public is important

Deputy Mc'Grath comments on a "No " campaign photograph for same sex marriage referendum.

Deputy Mattie McGrath has said he believes that if a member of the gardai was pictured in a ‘no’ campaign photograph for the upcoming same sex marriage referendum, there would be a backlash.

Deputy McGrath was commenting after a controversial photo was published, in which a uniformed garda accompanied retired judge Catherine McGuinness.  Both were holding an enlarged voter registration form, encouraging people to vote in the upcoming referendum. However, the photocall was organised by the Yes Equality campaign.

Appeal for help to find Karen missing in Glasgow.

Police are saying that the man who was seen talking to Karen Buckley outside a Glasgow nightclub on the night she went missing is not being treated as a suspect.
24 year-old Karen who is from Mourneabbey near Mallow in Co Cork, and has close connections to Galbally, went missing after last being seen at around 1am on Sunday morning when she left The Sanctuary nightclub on Dumbarton Road in Glasgow.

40 New Jobs at Premier Green Energy on the way to Thurles.

40 new jobs are on the way to Thurles upon announcement that plans are proceeding to develop a major green energy hub in the country. 
The jobs will be created at Premier Green Energy which is located on the site of former Thurles Sugar Factory. 
The company develpos technologies for the bio energy and waste to energy sector. 
The jobs which will come online in the last quarter of this year, will be in the areas of engineering and will be assigned to activities related to applied research for third level institutes and partners in the industry.
