The Minister for Tourism is being called upon to explain why Cahir has been excluded from an initiative aimed at further promoting the South East region’s ancient heritage.
The county Tipperary town has been left out of the Ancient East initiative which, according to Bord Failte is geared to maximise awareness of the history and heritage in the region and to bring it to greater international attention.  To do this, it offers visitors a personal experience of 5000 years of history throughout the region by way of a heritage trail.

Despite existing traffic calming measures on the N24 in Monard, local residents say traffic continues to pass through the village at high speed.

Councillor Michael Fitzgerald raised the issue at this month's meeting of the Tipperary - Cashel Municipal District.

He wants an electronic sign put in place to inform motorists of their speed, saying they are an effective deterrent.

The Fine Gael representative feels such units should be rolled out in other towns and villages across the county.

Investigations continue into fatal stabbing of man in Pallasgreen overnight
The 31 year-old man was found fatally stabbed at a house in the Grove Estate in Pallasgreen on Thursday night.
There are reports that the victim, believed to be from Limerick City, had attempted to intervene in a dispute between a woman and another man.
Gardai say it's too early to confirm that report or a motive for the death- however they believe around eight young people were in the house at the time.
