Thurles Youth Project to recieve funding as part of small capital projects

Thurles Youth Project has been selected as one of sixteen youth projects across the country to receive funding as part of small capital projects. The Youth Project is to receive €43,473 of a €500,000 pot, with the money being earmarked for repairs to the Youth Project’s building, which is located on Croke St., Thurles. 
Welcoming the announcement, TD Michael Lowry said that the project is an extremely important amenity in the Thurles area which acts as a social hub for young people aged between 8 and 18, while allowing them to gather in a safe environment and integrate into the community through various programmes and activities.

Funding approved for Tipperary Racecourse.

The board of Horse Racing Ireland has approved a funding allocation of €280,000 for further works at Tipperary Racecourse.
The money will go towards the €375,000 refurbishment of the Tipperary Stand.
In total €700,000 will eventually be spent on redeveloping parts of Tipperary Racecourse.

Local councillors in Co Tipperary to discuss maintenance of road structure with transport minister

A delegation of local councillors will travel to Dublin next month to make the case that Co Tipperary needs more funding to maintain its roads.
The decision was made at yesterday’s meeting of Tipperary County Council.

Funding approved for Sports facilities at Abbey School Tipperary.

The government has approved a funding allocation which will go towards a sports hall and al-weather pitch at the Abbey School in Tipperary. That is according to  Deputy Tom Hayes the Junior Minister at the Department of Agriculture today.

Announcing the funding Deputy Hayes said that he hopes the money will help to move the project forward, once additional funding has been secured elsewhere.

Meanwhile, the Fine Gael TD has also welcomed the provision of funding for  new bus shelters for parts of Tipperary. The announcement was made by Minister of the Enviroment Alan Kelly.  The villages of Bansha, Limerick Junction and Monard will see the provision of new shelters following the allocation of €80,000 for Tipperary county Council,

The National Transport Authority has written to Tipperary County Council informing them of the availibity of funding.

UN Secretary General will accept Tipperary Peace Award later this month

It has been confirmed that the UN Secretary General will accept the Tipperary Peace Award at a ceremony in Tipperary later this month.
Ban Ki Moon was chosen to receive the award earlier this year.  According to the Tipperary International Peace Convention, he is being honoured ‘for his leadership in mobilizing the international community to address a series of grave conflicts and major natural disasters’ during his time as UN Secretary General.
The award ceremony has been arranged for Sunday, May 24th at Ballykisteen Hotel and Golf Resort.
Mr Ban will deliver an address at the event.
