Call for County Council to make car parks at Tipperary's beauty spots more secure.

There has been a call for the County Council to take some measures to make car parks at many of Tipperary’s beauty spots more secure.
Hill walker Jimmy Barry, who is also a member of SEMRA made the suggestion after two cars were broken into in the Glencush area of the Glen of Aherlow recently.  The break-ins occurred as the owners were walking on the Galtee Mountains.
 
The An Post Rás left Tipperary town this morning.

The An Post Ras left Tipperary town this morning.   
The cyclists, which numbered more than 150, left earlier than originally planned due to secuity arrangements relating to the visit of Prince Charles to Galway.

The second leg of An Post Rás arrived  in Tipperary today to great fanfare Th  Hundreds of people gathered along both sides of Main Street to get a fleeting glimpse of the cyclists as they came speeding to the finish line and to look for Tipperary's own Simon Ryan. For much of today's stage Simon was towards the front of the main pack but his progress was impeded by two accidents that took place ahead of him. However he still finished in the main pack.

An Post Rás cyclists expected to arrive in Tipperary 2pm today.

Tipperary town is preparing for the arrival of cyclists participating in the An Post Rás today. 

More than 150 cyclists are expected to arrive in the town this lunchtime as they finish the second leg of the 1180 km race.

The cyclists are expected to arrive on Tipperary's Main Street some time around 2pm with a charity cycle to arrive shortly beforehand. 

Main Street will be closed ahead of the cyclist's arrival, while the Market Street car park will also be closed. 

 
Broadcaster and journalist Derek Davis dies R.I.P.

Broadcaster and journalist Dereck Davis dies following a stroke.
Mr Davis was born in Co Down and began his media career as a news journalist, working with the American network ABC and BBC Northern Ireland before moving to the newsroom in RTÉ.
 
He later moved into light entertainment and is fondly remembered for his work alongside Thelma Mansfield on the popular afternoon show Live at Three.
 
He worked on a range of other shows, won two Jacob's awards and was twice presenter of the Rose of Tralee.
 
He also worked on several radio shows including A Question of Food, and following his retirement from RTÉ he presented a radio programme on 4FM.
 
He suffered from health problems in later years and spoke openly about his battle with his weight.
 
Last year he had gastric surgery, which saw him losing over five stone.
 
 
 
He is survived by his wife and three sons.
