South Tipperary has lowest level of uptake for free GP for under 6's

It has emerged that South Tipperary has witnessed the lowest level of uptake nationally in the scheme that provides free GP care for children under the age of 6.
Figures published by the HSE reveal that only around half of doctors around the country have signed up to the scheme.

5000 fish have died after contaminants entered Drumcamogue River

It is estimated that 5000 fish have died after contaminants, suspected to have originated from Co Tipperary, entered the Drumcomogue River.
The fish killed happened along the stretch of river near Emly and Knocklong.
Inland Fisheries Ireland has said it believes the source of the pollution originated in Co Tipperary in the area between Knocklong, Emly and Ballywire.

Investment in Co Tipperary Fire service announced

A significant investment in Co Tipperary’s fire services has been announced.
€1.2 million is being provided to construct a new fire station in Templemore.
According to TD Noel Coonan, this will include a site adjoining the current location which has been acquired and on which planning permission has been secured

Authorities investigating the pollution of Drumcamogue river.

Co Tipperary is being considered as the possible source of pollution affecting a river in Co Limerick.
Trout and salmon are reported to have died on the stretch of the Drumcamogue River near Knocklong.

Alan Kelly expected to attend protest in Tipperary tomorrow

The Environment Minister Alan Kelly is expected to attend a protest in Tipperary town tomorrow about the closure of the hostel project.
The protest, involving former workers at the project, will take place at 10am tomorrow, and it marks five years since the project ended, due to financial concerns of its main funders FAS and Pobal.
 
Tomorrow’s protest takes place outside the hostel premises on Station Road in Tipperary town at 10am.
