Gardaí in Tipperary are investigating an armed robbery in Tipperary Town

Gardai in Tipperary are investigating an armed robbery in the town last night.
Two males carrying knives are understood to have entered the the shop at around 8pm.
In the course of the robbery they threatened staff and then proceeded to take the contents of the till.  They then fled the scene.
Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Bank Place area of the town to contact Tipperary town garda station on 062 51212.
 
Gardaí seeking the public's assistance in tracing missing Clonmel man

Gardaí are seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of Daniel Gerrard who is missing from Clonmel.
Daniel, aged 23, was last seen early yesterday morning in the Bridgewater House area of Clonmel at around 5:50am. He is described as being 6 ft tall, of lean build with short brown hair and brown eyes. When last seen he was wearing a blue hooded top, grey tracksuit bottoms and grey runners.
 
Anyone who has seen Daniel or who can assist in locating him is asked to contact Clonmel Garda Station on 052-6177640, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Tributes paid to Cllr Willie Kennedy R.I.P.

Tipperary County Council has paid tribute to Cllr Willie Kennedy who was killed in a road traffic collision last night.
Cllr Kennedy was struck by a car at around 8.30pm on the N80 at Dysart, Portlaoise. Cllr Kennedy was from Glastrigan in Borrisoleigh.  He was first elected to the county council in 1985 and also served as Leas Cathaoirleach of the recently-formed Templemore-Thurles Municipal District. Cllr Kennedy was also a member of the Council’s Roads Strategic Policy Committee and served as Chairman of the Vocational Education Committee between 2009 and 2014.  He was also part of the Team Lowry group.
 
Number of people on trolleys at South Tipperary General hospital high today

The number of people waiting on trolleys at South Tipperary General Hospital remained high today with a total of 34 people awaiting beds. 24 are on trolleys in the A&E department, while 10 are on trolleys in wards.
Nationally, while not as high as yesterday, the figures compiled by the INMO show that at 537, there is pressure on emergency departments across the country.

Labour TD Alan Kelly said those elected to the Dail need to find way to form government

Labour TD Alan Kelly has said today that his party needs to take time in opposition to consider its failure to engage with the public in a way that could have returned it to government.  Speaking to Tipperary Mid West Radio this morning, the Portroe TD said that the electorate had sent a message to his party that it wanted a change in government, and that it did not include Labour in that plan.
