130 staff at Suir Pharma Clonmel face redundancy

Workers at the Suir Pharma facility in Clonmel are still coming to terms with the news yesterday that a provisional liquidator is being appointed.  As a result around 130 staff are facing redundancy.
One of the reasons the company gave for the decision is that it lost nearly €5 million in the 15 months to March of last year.

The High Court has appointed a provisional liquidator at Suir Pharma in Clonmel, putting more than 130 jobs at risk.
The company, which makes generic medicines, has cited sustained and irreversible losses of nearly €5 million in the course of the 15 months before March of last year. A drop in US sales is being blamed for the bulk of its difficulties.
 
TD Mattie McGrath call on Minister to support viability of rural post office network

Independent TD Mattie McGrath has called on the Minister for Social Protection Leo Varadkar to respond positively to the latest calls of the Irish Postmasters Union (IPU) to support the viability of the rural post office network.
Deputy McGrath was speaking after the IPU, at their Annual Conference in Athlone, called for the suspension of a proposal which would see the roll out of Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) to banks and away from the post office network.
The Co Tipperary TD called Minister for Social Protection Leo Varadkar to put a halt to the migration of payments through the banks and to promote the Post Office Network as the provider of choice for social protection payments.
 
 
Stop And Go Traffic system Tipperary Town to Bansha Road Roundabout.

The stretch of road between Main St in Tipperary town and the Bansha Road Roundabout will be closed to traffic this evening to allow road works to take place.
The road will be closed each evening from around 6.30pm.
A stop and go traffic management system will be in place and the council says some disruption is expected.
Tipperary County Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.
 
Road traffic collision in Carrick on Suir this afternoon.

A woman has been killed in a road traffic collision in Carrick on Suir this afternoon.
The incident happened at Townspark on the Limerick to Waterford Road at around 1pm.
The woman, who was in her early 70s was struck by a lorry as she was crossing the road.
The road is currently closed to facilitate a forensic collision investigation and local diversions are in place.
Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them in Clonmel on 052 6177640, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
