The Communications Committee, which is chaired by South Tipperary TD Tom Hayes has recommended that effords to sustain the post office network should include the processing of a range of government services.

The commitee yesterday evening published its report on the future of the post office network and how best to enable it carry on into the future.

It also recommends the processing of motor tax renewals and hospital charges as well as water charges, property tax, business rates, rents and other government payment services.
