The futures of around 20 clerical positions at the garda vetting unit in Thurles have been secured for the time being. There had been concerns that the positions were to be discontinued following the clearance of a backlog of garda vettting applications.
It was suggested that the positions would be replaced with interns on the jobsbridge scheme. Speaking on Tipperary Mid West Radio this morning Independant TD for Tipperary North Michael Lowry said that the contracts for the clerical positions are now renewed.
