The Minister for Arts, Heritageand the Gaeltacht, Jimmy DeenihanTD has today launched a heritage trail in thurles. 

Known as Derrynaflan Trail it is run by the Sliabh Ardagh Rural Development Co. and is community-driven tourism trail connecting ancient ecclesiactical sites from the Sliabardagh Hills, across Littleton Bog to the Banks of the Suir.

Holycross Abbey, Kilcooley Abbey, Liathmore Churches and Derrynaflan are among the places of significance along the route.

The trail spans fifteen centuries of Irish History.

A 36-page booklet and a 1-hour audio guide has been produced, along with a brochure, to highlight the rich ecclesiastical heritage of this part of Tipperary.
