The only hospital to have more patients waiting for beds than South Tipp General today was Cork University Hospital.

Across the country, 325 people were waiting on trolleys in corridors or on wards.

The figure for South Tipperary General hospital was 26, one short of Cork University Hospital which topped the INMO’s trolley watch list today, at 27.

Gardi are seeking witnesses to an incident in Clonmel last night in which a gunshot is understood to have been fired at a house in the town.

Gardai say that the incident occurred at around 10.30 in the Old Bridge area.

The house concerned was occupied at the time but gardai say nobody was injured.

No arrests have yet been made but gardai are seeking witnesses to the incident and are appealing to anyone who may have noticed anything in the area to contact them in Clonmel on 052 6177640.

Two OPW sites have been assigned funding by Failte Ireland today.

The Rock of Cashel and Ormond Castle in Carrick on Suir are to receive €1.78 million and €585,000 respectively.

The funding is part of an overall allocation of €11.5 million being provided to support some of the projects comprising the tourist region of Irelands Ancient East.
