The Taoiseach has again denied that a deal or an understanding exists between him and Michael Lowry in return for the Tipperary TDs support for the government.

Mr Kenny was forced to address the issue once more after the Fianna Fail leader Micheál Martin pointed out in the Dáil that Mr Lowry claimed in local media that he had a deal with the government which would deliver benefits for Tipperary.

In particular he pointed to the modular unit suggested for South Tipperary General Hospital.

Responding, Mr Kenny said that while he appreciated Mr Lowry’s support for the government, he denied that there are any understandings between the government and the former Fine Gael TD in return for that support.

He also said that if the Health Minister met with Mr Lowry over the capacity problems being experienced at South Tipp General, he did so out of ‘normal courtesy’.
